January: A Meatless Month and A "Manly" Challenge

To kick off 2009, Rhaya and I are making January a “Meatless Month” on Green-Lemonade. We think it will be a great way to start the year off on the right foot by focusing on a one simple lifestyle change everyone can make that has the potential to make a big impact. According to the Environmental Defense Fund, if every American ate one meat-free meal a week it would be the same as taking 5 million cars of the road!
Now, we’re certainly not suggesting everyone switch to a vegetarian diet, but we hoping our posts this month will inspire you to embrace a vegetarian meal more often. So, throughout the month of January we will be dedicating our posts to the Vegetarian lifestyle by introducing some of our favorite veggie recipes, tips and ideas.
To add to our “Meatless Month” we will be featuring a series of “Man vs. Meat” posts written by my husband, Brian, who is already almost 1 week into a 30 day Vegetarian diet challenge. Brian looks forward to sharing some of the experiences of his vegetarian challenge with you and welcomes any ideas or suggestions you might have for him.

A Tea Infused Week
Next week on Green-Lemoande.com, we will be talking tea all week long! With cold temperatures approaching (not to mention flu season) there is no better time to pour yourself a cup of tea.
Stay tuned for tips on types of teas, local teas, organic and fair trade teas, and even tea recipes. It’s tea time!
We’re Moving!

We’re moving — in more ways that one! Not only will our site be moving to a new (greener) server this weekend and next week, but Liz is also going to be be moving from upstate New York to the Columbus, Ohio area in the upcoming weeks as well.
We are crossing our fingers that the move to the new server goes quickly and smoothly, but if not, we thank you for your patience as the site transfers over!
Our Summer Schedule
The days are getting longer, the flowers are blooming, and the farmers markets will be here before we know it. We are so excited for what summer has to bring, and want to keep you informed for what’s in store for Green-Lemonade.com. As we turn the corner from spring into summer, you might notice that our posts become a little less frequent. We hope to take some time to un-glue ourselves from our computers and get out an enjoy all the wonderful benefits that warmer weather brings — and we hope that you do the same!
We will still be posting to the site when we have a great new recipe, product or green tip to share. And while our posting schedule may be more inconsistent, we hope that it is still as relevant (if not more so) than it always has been.
In August, to celebrate the site turning one, we will get back into our regular posting schedule, and begin gearing up for Going Local: Part Two, which will take place in September.
We want to thank all our readers for your continued support!

Spring Cleaning Week
Yesterday was officially the first day of Spring, which means there is no better time than the present to do some cleaning. To motivate you (and ourselves) we will be declaring next week Spring Cleaning Week at Green-Lemonade.com.
In addition to giving tips, we’ll also be linking to resources and products that will help you get down and dirty in an way that will make your Mama Nature proud.
Veggie Burger Week
Last weekend I was in Atlanta. The sun was shining, temperatures were pushing 80 degrees, and people were grilling out. Meanwhile, back in Indiana, temperatures were dropping and by midweek, the grill was covered in ice. This time of year, it seems that everyone is ready for spring, and one healthy way is to ward of winter blues is to celebrate one of the foods of summer: The Veggie Burger (no grill required).
So we are declaring next week, Veggie Burger Week, at Green-Lemonade.com, and will be devoting the entire week to the beloved veggie burger. Check back for recipes as well as information about unique ingredients. And if you have an original recipe of your own, send it our way and we will consider it for the site.
Sweet Survey
It’s not as important as the primaries and presidential election, but as a reader of Green-Lemonade.com, your voice counts!
We want to know more about you, and what you want, so we are requesting that you take a short 10 question survey regarding Green-Lemonade.com.
UPDATE: One lucky participant was chosen at random and was awarded a jar of Organic Bold Roast Chocagave that Liz posted about yesterday. Now that’s sweet!
New Email Address
Due to some spammers using contact [at] green-lemonade.com, we have deleted that account, and have created a new contact email address.
“The Squeeze,” which is scheduled to be sent tomorrow, is not affiliated with either address, so that should arrive to your inbox as usual.
On Holiday

Green-Lemonade.com will be on a break for the rest of the year, as we travel to visit family and friends for the holidays. Regular posting will resume on January 2nd.
We want to thank all our continued readers for their interest in and support of our site since it’s launch in August. The new year will bring new features to the site, including Green-Lemonade products available for purchase, book reviews, and additional interviews.
Here’s to a happy, safe and healthy holiday!
Sincerely,
Rhaya & Liz
