In The Garden

In The Garden

Growing up, I did not find it the least bit strange that I lived in the city and yet my parents had a garden and compost in our backyard. Summer meant an abundance of green beans, lettuce, peppers, zucchini, squash, tomatoes and more.

Now, because of our cat who eats anything, we don’t get to have a lot of house-plants, but the summertime is my chance to encourage my genetic green thumb and grow some vegetables of our own. My attempts pale in comparison to my parents, but our potted peppers, cherry tomatoes (see above) and basil, along with our tomatoes and peppers planted next to the house, have been exciting to watch grow and tasty to eat. We also have two types of grapes growing on our arbor (courtesy of the previous owner) that are deliciously sweet.
