Thinking about what to do with your tree?

Christmas Tree

Christmas has come and gone, and it is likely that you are beginning to take down those decorations. Most can be reused next year, but if you opted for a live tree (versus an artificial one) don’t send your tree to the trash.

If you are lucky, you may be able to leave your tree by the curb for recycling pickup. Call your local parks and recreation department, public works department or your current recycling company to see what your options are.

If you don’t have a curb side pick-up option, visit Earth911.org to find a drop-off location near you.

  1. Think about using the balsam needles for little balsam bags. The last time I was in an Adirondack gift store, a small ADK Style balsam bag was $7. A 1lb bag of balsam to make your own bags was $12+. Make some great stocking stuffer gifts, use your tree before the village picks it up for thier compost heap.

  2. What a great idea, Connie! As Liz has mentioned before, it is best to reuse what you have before recycling it!
